This is not a "bash the boss" or "employers are evil" website. Quite the contrary! The cheap shot is always to simply say the other guy is a bum and that's why things didn't work out -- but in the real world there is almost always something on both sides of any conflict that hurts -- or helps -- the situation.

Yes, it's true that some bosses are impossible to work for, who make life unnecessarily miserable for those around them. But it's equally true that there are plenty of employees -- and would-be employees -- out there who bring such a variety of nutty (and worse) behaviors to work that it's easy to understand how employers can feel a bit skittish about hiring anyone.

Rather than throwing stones at one group or another -- especially futile when you consider how easily group membership can change at work: your boss goes to a meeting with her boss, now she's the employee -- the emphasis here is on understanding and improving the underlying principles as much as possible.
